Musician/Singer

Abandoman, winner of both Hackney Empire New Act of the Year 2010 and The Musical Comedy Awards 2010, is looking for a musician who is a singer and can play multiple instruments.

The current guitarist and singer, James, will be leaving the band this April.
Abandoman creates hilarious live musical sketches at lightning speed in front of their audience. No two gigs are ever the same. Frontman Rob Broderick and multi-instrumentalist James Hancox reinvent hip-hop in a way that appeals to all age groups.

Abandoman recently sold out their entire 28-day run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, in addition to playing festivals such as Bestival, Latitude, Altitude and Rockness. The band has appeared on BBC 2′s The Stephen K. Amos Show and Dick’n'Dom’s Funny Business. They are regular performers on BBC Radio 4′s The Now Show and The Vote Now Show. They have contributed to the BBC 6′s Chris Hawkins Breakfast Show and BBC Radio 1′s The Scott Mills Show and The Nick Grimshaw Show. They have also performed at the 2010 Brits after-party, Daisy Lowe’s 21st birthday party and have opened for numerous comedy and musical acts including Micky Flanagan and DJ Yoda.

Abandoman have many dates already booked in the diary for the next year - including a month tour of the US and Canada - so the position will be one that both pays and provides a lot of performance dates from May onwards.

The ideal candidate needs to be able to think quickly on their feet. They should be interested in working with loops, building up songs with keys, guitar and drum machines. Also, driving skills would be a plus.

To apply, please email your CV and samples of your work to Abandoman. The closing date for applications is 30th June 2011.
